PSG Back In For Berbatov
Paris St Germain are targeting Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov in an £18million swoop.
PSG are enjoying a stunning revolution under new Qatari ownership, who are poised to beat Chelsea to the £35m signing of Palermo's rising-star playmaker Javier Pastore.
Berbatov, 30, has just a year left on his contract after signing for £30million from Spurs in 2009.
Although the likes of Javier Hernandez, Antonio Valencia and Park Ji Sung are set to have new deals confirmed at Old Trafford this week, that will not be the case with Berbatov.
Indeed, the Bulgarian will be left as the only player at United with 12 months left to run on his deal, despite being the joint-top scorer in the Premier League with Carlos Tevez last season.
A breakdown of those figures, however, reveal three hat-tricks - including one where he went on to score five goals in the game - helped to account for the overall total.
Sir Alex Ferguson did not to even have Berbatov on the bench for the Champions League Final - and the player's subsequent reaction, when he watched the match on TV in the dressing room rather in person in the stands - is said to have sealed his fate at the club.
PSG are understood to be ready to offer a package worth £18m to snap him up, after flexing their financial muscle to sign some of the most sought-after talent around in recent weeks.
The French club have captured 24-year-old Roma schemer Jeremy Menez for £7m and powerful defensive midfielder Blaise Matuidi, also 24, in a deal that could rise to £9m.
They have also pinched France international striker Kevin Gameiro from under the noses of Newcastle for £10m and were willing to splash out £12m on QPR playmaker Adel Taraaby before their new sporting director Leonardo went cold on the deal.
PSG, who are hunting their first title since 1994, have also signed Serbian defender Milan Bisevac to add steel to their back line.

Berbatov Linked to Bundesliga Return
Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund after Manchester United’s Dimitar Berbatov- Bundesliga news
Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are linked with Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov. The German giants are ready to pounce upon the opportunity after learning that United could sell their top goal scorer for last season. The player is reportedly not happy at the club and wants an exit in this summer’s transfer window.
Dimitar Berbatov’s future at Manchester United has been subject to uncertainty in the past few weeks. The player is rumoured to be leaving after learning that he will not be offered a new contract at Old Trafford. The forward’s current contract ends in the summer next year and United will be looking to cash-in on the player as he would leave on a free transfer in 2012.
Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are reported to be the front runners in securing the Bulgarian’s signature. The Munich giants have been linked with many attackers in the past few weeks including Nicklas Bendtner, Shane Long and Dale Jennings. The Bavarians are in need of finding a replacement of Miroslav Klose, who left for Lazio after refusing to sign a new deal.
Dortmund, on the other hand, want to bolster their attacking options before the start of the next season as they kick start their campaign to defend the Bundesliga title. The Borussians require a quality striker in their ranks to partner Lucas Barrios upfront.
The Bulgarian international’s past experience in the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen could also turn out to be a huge plus for both the teams and his sensational form last season with the Red Devils has proved that he still has many years left in him.
Dimitar Berbatov joined Manchester United from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2008 for an estimated fee of 30.75 million pounds. The striker has since scored 47 times in a total of 128 appearances for the Red Devils in his three seasons at the club.
The striker has a great record for the national side and has found the net an impressive 48 times in 79 showings.

Berba-off?!
PARIS St Germain are preparing a £10m bid for Dimitar Berbatov.
They want the Manchester United striker to be their marquee summer signing. The French club have money to burn after their £150m takeover by Qatar Investments.
It makes them potentially huge spenders in the European transfer market. And Berbatov fits their bill according to new boss Leonardo.
It is understood members of the club’s new Middle East board held a meeting at the weekend with Berbatov’s agent Emile Dantchev.
And now they are preparing to make a formal offer to United for the 30-year-old who could be surplus to requirements.
It is thought that the champions will listen to offers for the Bulgarian after he was humiliatingly left out of the final 18 for United’s Champions League Final showdown with Barcelona.
Berbatov was so embarrassed by being given the axe that he spent the whole game in the dressing room. And all this after being the club’s leading scorer last season in the Premier League.
Berbatov, who was bought from Spurs for £31m, has said he is ready to stay at Old Trafford and fight for his place. But the writing could be on the wall if United accept PSG’s offer later this week.
PSG are also looking at Spurs defender Younes Kaboul. PSG want a complete overhaul and Kaboul fits into their plans.
